Why this exists
Creator Academi CIC is run by one person who plans and delivers every session himself.
Keiron Phillips
I have spent over ten years in content creation. I am an Adobe Certified Professional, I have worked in schools as a cover supervisor, and I host two weekly evening shows as a volunteer presenter on Rhondda Radio.
I set Creator Academi up because of something I kept noticing. Children round here spend hours a day watching content made by other people, and almost none of them have ever been shown how any of it is put together. That gap does not close by itself, and waiting for it to be somebody else's job was not working.
The thing that surprised me most once sessions started was how quickly the quiet ones take over. Give a child who does not put their hand up in class a camera and a job, and by week three they are directing.
Why it is a CIC
Creator Academi is a Community Interest Company, No. 17213565. That is a deliberate choice rather than an administrative one.
It means the business exists to do the thing, not to extract a profit from families in the valleys. Practically, it keeps the pricing honest. A block costs less than it would if it were priced to maximise a margin, and it is set where it is deliberately, so that it is not a luxury.
It also matters for the work I want to do in alternative provision, where the referral routes and the funding routes both take a community organisation more seriously than they take a sole trader.
Where this is going
Two things are planned rather than running, and I want to be clear which is which.
- Holiday clubs are planned for summer 2027. They are not running and are not bookable.
- Arts Award accreditation is being worked toward. We are not a centre yet.
